Eligibility/Qualifications

To qualify for admission to postgraduate education, applicants must meet both general and specific entry requirements by the application deadline:

  • General Entry Requirements:
  • Completed a second-cycle degree or the equivalent of at least 240 higher education credits (60 in the second cycle).
  • Specific Entry Requirements:
  • At least 60 higher education credits in the second cycle (15 credits in Ecology or Evolution, and 30 credits from a project in either area).
  • Additional Skills:
  • Experience in evolutionary genetics/genomics, population genetics, phylogenomics.
  • Bioinformatics or computational analysis proficiency.
  • Strong analytical, creative thinking, and written/oral English skills.
  • Molecular genetic lab work or plant experiments experience is beneficial but not necessary.

Description

This project, led by Prof. Tanja Slotte and collaborators, aims to decode pollen evolution and understand sexual selection mechanisms. The PhD student’s thesis work will analyze genomic signatures of selection on pollen in the context of evolutionary transitions in pollination mode. The candidate will engage in comparative genomic analyses, as well as population genomic and transcriptomic analyses in relevant plant systems.

How to Apply

Interested candidates must apply through Stockholm University’s recruitment system. Applicants should attach a personal letter, resume (CV), and all required documents detailed in the application form. Ensure the application meets the necessary guidelines and is submitted before the deadline.
