Designation:
PhD Candidate in Experimental Fluid Mechanics and Soft Matter Physics.

Research Area:
Experimental fluid mechanics, multiphase flows, soft matter physics, interfacial phenomena, and droplet dynamics.

Location:
LMFA, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, Lyon, France, with collaborative visits to the University of Cambridge and Dstl in the UK.

Eligibility/Qualification:
Applicants should possess a strong academic background in fluid mechanics, physics, or a related discipline, demonstrate enthusiasm for experimental and interdisciplinary research, have experience or a keen interest in building experimental setups, and possess good English-language skills. Knowledge of French is not required.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will conduct high-speed imaging experiments and modelling to study droplet deformation, breakup, transport, and redistribution by rolling wheels. The work will involve developing new experimental facilities and physical models to advance understanding of contamination and decontamination processes in multiphase systems.

How to Apply:
Submit a CV, motivation letter, and academic transcripts from the last three years by email to julien.landel@univ-lyon1.fr. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and early submission is encouraged.

Last Date for Apply:
16 August 2026.
