Summary
This PhD project at The University of Queensland aims to develop an oscillation source localisation and visualisation platform for renewable energy-rich power grids. Australia’s electricity grid is transitioning to a power electronics-dominated system with increasing inverter-based resources (IBRs) like solar PV, wind, and battery storage. This shift leads to declining system strength and small-signal stability, causing unstable oscillations. The project will leverage existing network monitoring infrastructure to pinpoint and isolate unstable IBRs, thereby improving power system stability, increasing network visibility, reducing renewable energy curtailment, and accelerating secure renewable energy integration to support Australia’s net-zero target.

Scholarship Description
This project is supported by a Research Project Scholarship which provides a generous living stipend and covers tuition fees. For international students, it also includes Single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
