Research Area
The PhD project will focus on developing concepts and modeling the asynchronous architecture for future power grids as we transition away from conventional synchronous systems. This includes exploring new control strategies to ensure reliable and efficient operation of power grids integrated with renewable energy sources.
Description
The candidate will work in an interdisciplinary team with leading scientists and contribute to research that aims to enable safe operations of power grids with reduced inertia and increased integration of renewable sources. Tasks will include:
- Conceptualizing and modeling asynchronous grid architectures.
- Developing coordination mechanisms for modular grids.
- Validating protocols to handle unstable events and contingencies.
Expertise in areas such as distributed control, cyber-physical systems, and communications engineering will be advantageous. Proficiency in engineering tools like MATLAB and PSCAD is also preferred.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should prepare the following documents in a single PDF format:
- Application letter stating motivation and qualifications.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Diplomas (Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees).
- Project description (3-5 pages) detailing initial thoughts on the project, including state-of-the-art review, timeline, and objectives.
- Other relevant documents.
