Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, or related fields
  • Strong background in digital communications, machine learning, and mathematics
  • Knowledge of digital communication systems and signal processing
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
  • Strong interest in pursuing research, independent, curious, and creative

Desirable:

  • Experience in implementing and simulating communication systems
  • Courses and experience in fiber communication or sensing
  • Previous research, publication, and teaching experience

Swedish language skills are not required.

Job Description:

PhD Student in Machine Learning for Information/Communication Technology

As a PhD student, you will conduct cutting-edge research in the integrated field of communication and fiber sensing. Develop theoretical models capturing the impact of environmental changes on optical channels. Explore signal-processing algorithms supporting high-speed data transmission and advanced polarization sensing. Contribute to the application of machine learning techniques to optimize communication performance and sensing accuracy. Responsibilities include independent research, teaching, and departmental duties (up to 20% full time).
