Eligibility/Qualification

  • Minimum Education: First class or upper second-class honours degree in pharmacy, pharmaceutical science, chemical sciences, or material sciences.
  • Desirable: Master’s degree in project-specific scientific fields such as Drug Delivery or Mathematics/Modeling.
  • Experience: Practical laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in cheminformatics data handling, scientific computing, and machine learning.
  • Language: Solid written and oral communication skills in English (proof of proficiency may be required).

Description

The PhD studentship is part of a collaborative project led by the School of Pharmacy at UCC, aiming to develop AI and machine learning tools to accelerate the creation of medicines for conditions that disproportionately affect populations in developing countries. Key tasks will include investigating stability requirements and developing computational tools to assist in drug formulation, alongside validating those tools through practical experiments. This initiative aligns with UCC Futures’ thematic areas: Future Medicines and AI & Data Analytics.
