Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies, Germany invites application for Three Ph.D., One Postdoc Position at Frankfurt Institute from eligible and interested candidates

About- Applications are invited from motivated and talented personals for three PhD position and one postdoc position in Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies. The project will be carried out in the newly established group of Seismology led by Dr. Nishtha Srivastava at FIAS in active collaboration with Prof. Dr. Horst Stöcker, Dr. Jan Steinheimer, Dr. Kai Zhou and Dr. Georg Rümpker.

Eligibility/Qualification–

Essential Qualification for PhD:

  • A Master’s degree in Geosciences/Physics/Computer Science.
  • Excellent communication skills and working proficiency in English.
  • A strong interest in interdisciplinary research.
  • Previous experience in programming (Python, Matlab, etc.),  and machine learning (PyTorch, Tensorflow) are not required but a plus.

  • A PhD degree in Geosciences/Physics/Computer Science background.
  • Excellent communication skills and working proficiency in English.
  • A strong interest in interdisciplinary research.
  • Previous experience in programming (Python, Matlab etc.),  and machine learning (PyTorch, Tensorflow) are not required but a plus.

Job/Position Description- 

  • The project focuses on developing and applying an innovative computational framework based on novel techniques of Deep Learning and Machine Learning in seismological data.
  • The research work will range across seismology, artificial intelligence, physics, and high-performance computing.
