Post-Doc in Bioinformatics or Computer Science The Foundation for Research and Technology is seeking a highly qualified Post-Doc researcher in the field of Bioinformatics or Computer Science. The position is based at the Institute of Computer Science in Iraklio, Crete, Greece. Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or Biology
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, PYTHON, R, or other scripting languages
- Experience in bioinformatics software development and analysis of molecular sequence data
- Expertise in parallel and high-performance computing, energy-aware computing, and big data analysis
- Knowledge of statistics, uncertainty quantification, and application of machine learning techniques in biological problems
- Strong algorithm design and engineering skills
- Experience with biodiversity analysis projects
- Excellent written and spoken fluency in English
Job Description:
The Post-Doc researcher will work with the Biodiversity Computing Group (BCG) and collaborate with local biodiversity research centers, such as the Natural History Museum of Crete and the Hellenic Center for Marine Research.The researcher will contribute to the development of tools, algorithms, and models for analyzing biodiversity data, with a focus on energy-efficient and parallel computing. They will also have the opportunity to pose independent research questions, develop their own projects, and contribute to the scientific achievements of the group.
