About URD ABI:
URD ABI is a research and development unit located within the Pomacle-Bazancourt biorefinery, specializing in the valorization of agroresources and biorefinery by-products. With expertise in white biotechnologies, green chemistry, and process engineering, our team focuses on multidisciplinary research projects to develop innovative industrial processes for transforming agricultural by-products into high-value chemicals, such as polymers, fine chemicals, functional additives, or cosmetics.
Context and Objectives:
The ANR Biopoliol project aims to produce bio-based molecules for insulating materials from depolymerized lignin. The complex medium obtained after depolymerization requires fractionation to recover the target oligomers. The primary objectives of this position are to implement two separation technologies: membrane processes (ultrafiltration and nanofiltration) and liquid-liquid extraction assisted by a membrane contactor. The work will involve membrane screening, process architecture determination, and solvent compatibility assessment. Optimization of these technologies will lead to scale-up, and the nature of purified fractions will be verified using Gel Permeation Chromatography and phosphorus NMR.
