Designation: Post-doctoral Researcher / Research Engineer

Research Area: Quantum Technologies

Location: ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, Spain

Eligibility/Qualification: Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future), preferably in Physics, Electrical or Electronic Engineering. The candidate should have a proven track record in:

  • Quantum physics
  • Quantum communication
  • Quantum cryptography
  • Quantum imaging
  • Quantum processing
  • Nonlinear effects and entanglement generation
  • Optical fibre communication
  • Free space communication
  • Signal processing (post-processing)
  • Software interfaces

Job Description: The successful candidate will join the Optoelectronics group led by Prof. Dr. Valerio Pruneri. The group focuses on developing new advanced materials, devices, and systems for information and communication technologies, particularly displays, image sensors, and cybersecurity. The candidate will work on projects aimed at building the next generation of quantum cryptography, entanglement distribution systems, quantum imaging, and processing. The group has developed technology for continuous variable quantum key distribution and quantum random number generation, now commercialized by ICFO spin-offs Luxquanta and Quside. The next step is developing entanglement and decoy state-based systems for secure communication and quantum connections for ground and space segments, and quantum processing and imaging devices. The group is involved in several European projects and is funded by the European Union.

How to Apply: Suitable candidates are requested to submit:

  • Presentation letter with a declaration of interest
  • Curriculum Vitae, including contact details
  • The contact e-mail of two potential referees

Candidates will be assessed as they apply, and the call will remain open until the suitable candidate is identified. Candidates may contact jobs@icfo.eu for formal inquiries regarding the application and address scientific inquiries to Valerio.Pruneri@icfo.eu.
