Post-Doctoral Fellow in McGill University: The Gregory-Eaves lab and the Walsh lab are looking for a motivated post-doctoral fellow to join a project about studying the history of salmon nursery lakes in British Columbia, Canada. The fellow will employ sediment DNA (sedDNA) analyses using ddPCR, metabarcoding, and metagenomics to quantify changes in plankton, parasites, and fish populations over the past ~200 years.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in aquatic/terrestrial eDNA or genomics
- Background in wet lab eDNA techniques
- Proficiency in bioinformatics
- Experience with metagenomics preferred
Job Description:
The post-doc will work with research teams and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) to study sediment DNA and explore the history of Pacific salmon in breeding lakes.The project involves the use of ddPCR, metabarcoding, and metagenomics techniques. The fellow will have the opportunity to work with students and researchers from both McGill University and Concordia University. Additionally, they can join the Interuniversity Research Group in Limnology, which provides access to a large network of freshwater scientists.
Term: Initial appointment is for 1 year, with the possibility of extension for a second year based on performance and funding.
Start Date: The position is scheduled to start on January 8, 2024.
Work Location: The fellow will primarily be based at McGill University but will spend approximately one day a week at Concordia University. Both universities are predominantly English-speaking institutions located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
