Post Doctoral Fellow – Plant Ecology: The LaMontagne Lab at the University of Missouri – St. Louis (UMSL) is seeking a dedicated postdoctoral researcher to contribute to projects focusing on plant ecology, population ecology, and macrosystems biology. This role will involve data analysis and the development of reproducible research pathways, offering the opportunity to work collaboratively with Dr. Jalene LaMontagne and other researchers.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Expertise in plant ecology, experience with big data, and proficiency in R programming
  • Familiarity with reproducible research workflows (e.g., GitHub)
  • Experience in macrosystems biology and linking broad-scale spatial-temporal climate data to biotic patterns is a plus, but not required

Job Description

The selected candidate will investigate patterns, drivers, and consequences of spatio-temporal variability and synchrony in population dynamics, with a particular focus on mast seeding reproduction in trees. Research will utilize existing datasets, including global data syntheses and long-term fieldwork data collected by the lab. The role includes opportunities for field site visits and collaboration with researchers at other institutions. Funding is secured for one year, with the potential for a one-year extension based on performance. There are also additional funds available for travel to conferences.
