Job Description
The successful candidate will join a FAPESP Young Investigator project to investigate how RING factors involved in ubiquitination pathways regulate genome maintenance and plasticity in Leishmania.
Key responsibilities include:
- Generating and characterizing mutant strains using CRISPR/Cas9 and DiCre systems.
- Analyzing cell cycle progression via flow cytometry.
- Evaluating DNA damage through microscopy, immunoblotting, and ChIP-seq (chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing).
- Utilizing bulk and single-cell genomic sequencing to investigate mosaic aneuploidy.
Eligibility & Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements:
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) completed within the last 7 years in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Cell Biology, Parasitology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related fields.
- Commitment to full-time dedication to the project.
- Demonstrated experience in molecular/cell biology and the cultivation of microorganisms/unicellular eukaryotes.
- Proficiency in scientific reading, writing, and communication in English.
- Ability to analyze/interpret experimental data and familiarity with bioinformatics/genomic analysis tools.
Desirable Skills:
- Prior experience with Leishmania or other trypanosomatids.
- Expertise in CRISPR/Cas9, DiCre, ChIP-seq, proteomics, and comparative genomics.
- Programming skills (R or Python).
- Experience in student mentorship and team collaboration; co-authorship in scientific manuscripts.
