Post-Doctoral Position in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, SOLEIL, France

Postdoc in France

Post-Doctoral Position in Nanoscience: Synchrotron SOLEIL, a French national synchrotron facility, is seeking a motivated post-doctoral researcher to join the TEMPO beamline team as part of the European project RIANA. This 24-month position focuses on studying the electronic properties of 2D nanomaterials using photoemission spectroscopy.

Post-Doctoral Position in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

Designation: Post-Doctoral Researcher

Research Area: Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

Location: Synchrotron SOLEIL, Paris-Saclay cluster, France

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Physics, Material Science, Physical Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Research experience in X-ray and/or electron spectroscopy.
  • Expertise in photoemission spectroscopy (XPS), angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), and absorption spectroscopy (XAS) is highly desirable.
  • Strong background in solid state physics.
  • Knowledge of ultrahigh vacuum techniques.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English; knowledge of French is not mandatory.

Job Description: The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct research on the TEMPO beamline using XPS and ARPES to study the properties of 2D nanomaterials, specifically Cu-Te films on semiconductor substrates.
  • Achieve in situ growth of CuTe by co-evaporation and characterize the system to explore its electronic structure.
  • Perform surface diffraction experiments and Raman measurements.
  • Provide support to academic and industrial users of the RIANA project, assisting with experiments, data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation.
