Post-doctoral position in Supramolecular Chemistry and Nanogel Drug Delivery, France

CEMEF Postdoctoral Fellowship in France- Apply by 31 October 2020

Post-doctoral position in Supramolecular Chemistry: The research group is seeking a motivated and talented Post-doctoral Fellow to work on a patented process for designing self-assembled nanogels composed of cyclodextrins and a chemically modified monosaccharide for drug delivery. The project’s main objectives are to synthesize and characterize a library of chemically modified monosaccharides, understand the impact of process parameters on nanogel properties, investigate the ability of the particles to encapsulate drugs, and study the release kinetics of drugs in different simulated media.

Designation: Post-doctoral Fellow

Research Area: Supramolecular chemistry, Glyco-chemistry, Self-assembly, Nanogels, Drug delivery, Nano-formulation

Location: Chemistry Research Institute of Paris, France

Eligibility/Qualification: PhD in glycoscience, supramolecular chemistry, or organic chemistry

Job Description:

The successful candidate will work on a collaborative project between Kawthar Bouchemal and Jean-Maurice Mallet at the Chemistry Research Institute of Paris in collaboration with the Laboratoire des Biomolécules. The post-doctoral fellow will be responsible for:

  1. Synthesizing and characterizing a library of chemically modified monosaccharides.
  2. Formulating the modified monosaccharides with cyclodextrins.
  3. Investigating the impact of process parameters on nanogel physicochemical and rheological properties.
  4. Studying the ability of the particles to encapsulate drugs with variable physicochemical properties.
  5. Examining the release kinetics of the drugs in different simulated media.
  6. Monitoring the stability of the formulations and the encapsulated drugs in biomimetic conditions.
  7. Understanding the nanogel formation mechanism by combining several characterization techniques.
  8. Studying the biological behaviors of the nanogels if the main objectives of the post-doctoral position are reached.

The post-doctoral position is for 14 months starting in October 2023, and the beginning is flexible depending on the candidate.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in glycoscience, supramolecular chemistry, or organic chemistry. Applicants should be motivated by the physicochemistry of self-assembly systems. The motivation to pursue the post-doctoral position with an entrepreneurship project to build a start-up could be an added value.

How to Apply:

Applicants should send a motivation letter and a CV comprising the names of two references to Kawthar Bouchemal and Jean-Maurice Mallet.

The last date for application submission is July 31st, 2023.
