Post-doctoral Researcher at CEU: The CEU Democracy Institute (DI) in Budapest is seeking applications for a 2-year position of post-doctoral researcher at the research group on De- and Re-Democratization (DRD). The successful candidate will conduct independent empirical research within the thematic mission of the research group and contribute to building an innovative, international research network. The position involves both research and organizational tasks, with the researcher working in Budapest, Hungary, and possibly teaching courses at CEU Private University in Vienna, Austria.

  • Ph.D. in Political Science, Sociology, Economics, or related fields.

Job Description:

Post-doctoral Researcher for the De- and Re-Democratization Working Group

The post-doctoral researcher will:

  • Conduct independent research within the thematic mission of DRD.
  • Assist in constructing and consolidating an international research network.
  • Organize seminars and public events for the research group.
  • Participate in management meetings and public events.
  • Strengthen the international research network of DRD and enhance academic visibility.
  • Contribute to institution building efforts and public goods provision.
  • Engage in the development of research project plans and funding proposals.
  • Collaborate with the Review of Democracy, the CEU Democracy Institute’s online journal.
  • Potentially participate in educational activities, mentoring, and seminars for students.

Qualifications:

  • Strong record or promise of relevant and internationally recognized publications.
  • Familiarity with current political affairs.
  • Interest in networking and institution building.
  • Excellent written and oral proficiency in English.
  • Ph.D. in Political Science, Sociology, Economics, or related fields.
