Post-Doctoral Researcher in Environmental Sciences: The Department of Fish Biology, Fisheries and Aquaculture at IGB in Berlin-Friedrichshagen seeks a dedicated and experienced Post-Doctoral Researcher to contribute to the Special Investigation Program following the environmental disaster in the Oder River of August 2022. This program is funded by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) with funds from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing interdisciplinary research in environmental sciences and contributing to the sustainable development of freshwater ecosystems.

Designation: Post-Doctoral Researcher

Research Area: Environmental Sciences, Fish Biology, Fisheries, and Aquaculture

Location: IGB in Berlin-Friedrichshagen at Lake Müggelsee

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s degree and preferably a doctorate in natural sciences, preferably in environmental sciences or management
  • Experience in collaborative project work
  • First or senior authorship in scientific publications, preferably in interdisciplinary ones
  • Good command of English and some German language skills

Job Description:
As a Post-Doctoral Researcher, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Conceptualizing and writing interdisciplinary scientific publications on the results of ODER~SO
  • Assisting in synthesizing contributions of different research teams to overarching research objectives
  • Supporting project coordination with respect to scientific reporting and publication management
  • Facilitating and organizing brainstorm meetings on integrative ideas
