Scholarship Description:
The Baumgarten Lab at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, France, is recruiting a Post-Doctoral Researcher to join their team on an exciting quest to decipher the best-guarded secrets of the malaria parasite and the fundamental principles of gene regulation. The lab focuses on the post-transcriptional processes, mRNA modification N6-methyladenosine, that regulate the life cycle progression of the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum and allow it to replicate in and transmit between different host and vector environments.
The lab integrates high-throughput genomic and (single-cell) transcriptomic approaches, genome editing, live cell imaging, and different genetic and biochemical tools to gain a molecular understanding of the epitranscriptomic processes in this parasite. They are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with a strong background in molecular and RNA biology to join their RNA/parasite endeavor.
The position is fully funded through an ERC research grant for an initial period of 3 years. The Baumgarten Lab greatly supports the career development of post-doctoral researchers and offers the candidate independence and responsibility to advance the project, present their work at international conferences, prepare publications, and interact with their collaborators.
Eligibility:
The candidate should hold a PhD degree in molecular and RNA biology or related fields. Prior experience with next-generation sequencing, computational analysis, and cell culture expertise is a great advantage, but prior experience in parasitology is not required. The candidate should have a strong background in molecular and RNA biology and exhibit a high level of motivation and enthusiasm to take over a key role in the research program.
Required Documents:
The following documents are required to apply for the Post-Doctoral Researcher position:
- CV
- Names and contact information of three references
- Motivation letter
How to Apply:
To apply for the Post-Doctoral Researcher position, the candidate should send their CV, the names and contact information of three references, and a motivation letter to sebastian.baumgarten@pasteur.fr before the deadline.
Last Date: 30 April 2023
The last date to apply for the Post-Doctoral Researcher position is April 30th.
