Postdoc and PhD Student Positions: The Plant Nematology Lab at Purdue University, led by Dr. Lei Zhang, is seeking a Postdoc and a PhD student to join their research team. The research will focus on basic and translational nematology research aimed at developing novel methodologies for effective nematode management. Plant-parasitic nematodes, microscopic soil-borne roundworms, cause significant annual crop losses valued at $118 billion worldwide. This lab’s work seeks to enhance our understanding of plant resistance to nematodes, plant-nematode-microbe interactions, and nematode biology at various levels. Research results from this lab have been published in prestigious journals, including Nature Plants, PLOS Pathogens, Molecular Plant Pathology, and Plant Disease.

Qualifications: Candidates with a strong interest in molecular plant-pest/microbe interactions are encouraged to apply. Prior research experience in plant-parasitic nematodes is NOT required. The successful applicant will have opportunities to be trained to conduct research on various aspects of plant nematology.
