Research Area

The project will focus on microbial electrosynthesis (MES) processes, aiming to convert CO2 into valuable chemicals using renewable electricity. The successful candidate will work with diverse microbial cultures and investigate the kinetics and metabolic activities in real-time.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Required Educational Background:
  • PhD in biochemical engineering, biotechnology, microbiology, or equivalent.
  • MSc degree in the same areas or closely related disciplines.
  • Recent Experience or Motivation:
  • Experience with microbial electrochemical technologies, ideally with a focus on microbial electrosynthesis.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong experimental and analytical skills.
  • Applied experience in bioreactor operations and microbial electrochemistry.
  • Desired Skills (considered a plus):
  • Knowledge of reaction thermodynamics, kinetics, and microbial physiology.
  • Experience with microscopy, mass spectrometry, and bioreactor scale-up.

Job Description

The postdoctoral researcher will be part of a collaborative team, working on real-time spectroscopic monitoring techniques to understand and optimize microbial electrosynthesis processes. The role requires a proactive mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary environment. The candidate will collaborate closely with teams at both TU Delft and CU Boulder.
