Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD in microbiology, bioelectrochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field
  • Strong background in anaerobic microbiology and electromicrobiology
  • Experience in microbial electrochemistry, anaerobic cultivation, microbial physiology assays, and advanced microscopy techniques
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Collaborative mindset and inclination towards interdisciplinary research

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct research on hydrocarbon-oxidizing archaea and their interactions with sulfate-reducing bacteria.
  • Perform anaerobic cultivation and experimentation with syntrophic consortia.
  • Carry out physiological assays and microbial electrochemistry, including the operation of microbial fuel cells (MFC) under anoxic conditions.
  • Implement stable isotope labeling and metabolomics, as well as use fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and advanced microscopy.
  • Collaborate with international researchers and contribute to the development of a next-generation imaging platform.
