Eligibility/Qualification
Applicants must be highly motivated, capable of working independently, and meet the following criteria:
- Hold a PhD in physics, chemistry, or a related field before the start date.
- Previous hands-on experience is required in:
- Ultra-high vacuum systems (design, construction, and day-to-day collaboration with mechanical engineering/workshops).
- Light systems, specifically lasers (visible, CW) and reflected light collection.
- Data acquisition systems (design, construction, and programming preferably in Python or C; LabVIEW is acceptable).
- Nanoparticle sources (at least one of: mechanical/electro-acoustic, ESI).
- Radio-frequency ion traps, charged dust traps, or NPMS traps.
Job Description
The main task for the successful candidate is to build the SRET into a viable setup for scientific experiments of astrophysical relevance. Responsibilities include:
- Developing the hardware and the user control system.
- Creating and establishing measurement protocols.
- Collaborating with experimentalists, observers, and theoreticians at CAS to investigate the chemical and physical evolution of the interstellar medium and star- and planet-forming regions.
