The position is available for a period of 2 years. The Department of Civil engineering focuses on the technical and scientific disciplines within civil engineering. Research areas span from Indoor Environment, Wind Turbines, Structural Design, Structural Materials, Geotechnical Engineering to Wave Energy along with many other areas. The research is conducted in an international research environment. The Department takes on contract research for both public institutions and private companies. The research projects involve both theoretical research and in situ measurements along with laboratory experiments. Project Title- Moorings Of Floating Renewable Energy Structures
Location- Aalborg University, Denmark
Eligibility/Qualification- Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
Job/Position Description- With regard to field of research, the position will primarily be within the marine engineering research areas at Aalborg University. The research will focus primarily on experimental and numerical modelling of moorings of floating renewable energy structures at sea, but also other areas of civil engineering including traditional offshore oil and gas structures. The modelling of the moorings of floating renewable energy structures address both installation, operational and extreme conditions, where evaluation of design loads, mooring layout design and cost optimizations are in focus.
Various topics within offshore renewable energy (both wind and wave energy), civil engineering and offshore oil & gas is included in the research area, and a broad knowledge of, and experience with several of these, is required. Furthermore, the applicant is expected to work on national and international research projects, and thus good collaboration and communication skills (in both Danish and English) should be demonstrated and will be highly valued. It is also expected that the applicant will participate in raising funds through research applications with the research areas, and thus a demonstration of past experiences in this field will also be highly valued. The employment is time-limited to a 2-year period.
The teaching will mainly be within the programme M.Sc. in Structural and Civil Engineering, with focus on the topic offshore renewable energy, but also in the other study programmes at the university. Relevant teaching experience will be highly valued.
