Postdoctoral Associate at Duke University: The Duke Human Vaccine Institute (DHVI) at Duke University School of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to join the Henderson Lab. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, structural biology, biophysics, biochemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Strong record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Proficiency in computer programming and experience with high-performance computing environments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.

Job Description:
The Postdoctoral Associate will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Studying the structure and dynamics of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein.
  • Performing computational protein design of SARS-CoV-2 fusion protein conformation.
  • Conducting molecular simulations to inform vaccine design.
  • Determining high-resolution structures using single particle cryo-electron microscopy and/or cryo-electron tomography.
  • Developing and implementing computational programs to support research activities.
  • Presenting scientific results at meetings and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Receiving training in bioethics, laboratory management, and scientific writing.
  • Maintaining accurate laboratory documentation of experiments.

This position offers exposure to various aspects of vaccine research, with opportunities to apply both computational and experimental methods to address the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The Postdoctoral Associate will work under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, contributing to the development of methodologies and experimental designs aimed at translating research into human clinical trials.
