Eligibility/Qualification
Required Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in chemistry with a focus on organic, inorganic, or organometallic chemistry.
- Proficiency with synthetic inorganic chemical techniques (designing/analyzing experiments, optimizing reaction conditions, characterization via NMR, FTIR, etc.).
- Solid foundation in presenting scientific results orally and in writing.
- Strong ability to survey and assess scientific literature.
- Ability to mentor junior graduate and/or undergraduate students.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to write and submit scholarly papers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in a relevant field with a specific focus on synthetic inorganic synthesis.
Job Description
- Perform synthetic inorganic chemistry research toward designing new catalytic chemical reactions.
- Provide laboratory leadership and experimental expertise to the research group.
- Design and implement research protocols, adapting new procedures or instrumentation as needed.
- Publish and present research findings.
- Support project management and collaborate across institutions or disciplines.
- Assist with proposal development to obtain research funding.
- Mentor, oversee, and train junior research team members.
- Workplace Requirements: Safely handle toxic, pyrophoric, or corrosive chemicals in collaboration with Environmental Health & Safety. Travel is not required, but attending at least one relevant scientific conference is encouraged.
- Note: This position is funded by a grant, soft, and/or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of funding.
