Eligibility/Qualification

  • A PhD in Organic Chemistry (or close to completion) prior to the appointment.
  • Expertise in organic synthesis methods and techniques, including:
  • Multistep synthesis
  • Catalysis
  • Methodology
  • Mechanistic study
  • Experience in asymmetric catalysis is desirable.
  • Ability to maintain detailed laboratory records and report on progress regularly.

Job Description

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work under the supervision of Professor Ed Anderson for a period of up to four years. The role involves:

  • Researching small ring heterocycles and hydrocarbons.
  • Exploring novel methodologies and applications of bicyclic hydrocarbons and propellanes.
  • Developing highly functionalised small ring building blocks for medicinal chemistry.
  • Investigating asymmetric functionalisation methodologies.
  • Collaborating with AbbVie to translate chemistry into industrially relevant contexts.
