Eligibility/Qualification:
- Required: Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- Experience: No experience required.
- Skills:
- Expertise in nanofiber fabrication techniques (e.g., forcespinning, electrospinning, melt-blowing, etc.).
- Strong background in structure-property relationships of polymer and composite materials.
- Knowledge of advanced materials characterization techniques (SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, rheology, etc.).
- Strong chemistry background, particularly in polymer chemistry or surface chemistry.
- Excellent scientific writing and communication skills.
Job Description:
The postdoctoral associate will be responsible for:
- Designing, fabricating, and characterizing nanofiber-based membranes tailored for specific applications.
- Analyzing structure-property relationships in composite nanofiber systems.
- Leading research projects and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
- Preparing and publishing research findings in high-impact journals.
- Contributing to proposal writing for funding opportunities.
- Ensuring lab safety and maintaining research documentation in compliance with Rice University policies.
