Summary

Location

UCSF Edward and Pearl Fein Memory and Aging Center (MAC), Department of Neurology, Weill Institute for Neurosciences (affiliated with the Bakar Computational Health Sciences Institute and the Center for Intelligent Imaging).

Eligibility/Qualification

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in machine learning, focusing heavily on deep learning and generative AI using Python.
  • Experience with agentic AI architectures, workflow orchestration, and human-AI interaction design.
  • Proven record of working with neurodegenerative disease datasets.
  • Established track record of peer-reviewed publications and exceptional scientific writing skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in multidisciplinary and fast-paced translational environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of data security, privacy, and clinical regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA compliance) for clinical software.
  • Experience handling multimodal clinical data, such as blood biomarkers, genetics, imaging, or other molecular modalities.

Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the development, evaluation, and optimization of clinical agentic AI workflows.
  • Elaborate dynamic prompt engineering and implement benchmarking protocols using real and simulated clinical data.
  • Improve accuracy and interpretability of the AI models.
  • Automate multimodal data processing.
  • Ensure full compliance with data security and regulatory standards, particularly HIPAA.
  • Collaborate closely with world-class specialists in neurology, neuropsychology, and radiology.
