Summary
The Department of Neuromedicine and Movement Science at NTNU is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Scheffler group as part of the newly established Norwegian Health Association Centre for Dementia Research. This exciting 3-year position focuses on establishing advanced, physiologically relevant in vitro models of Alzheimer’s disease to understand the vascular and immune contributions to disease initiation and progression. The successful candidate will work with human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) to generate vascularized 3D cerebral organoids and apply various molecular biology and imaging techniques.

Eligibility/Qualification
Required Criteria
- Education: A completed doctoral degree (PhD) in neuroscience, neurobiology, molecular and/or cell biology, or a related field.
- Note: If you are in the final phase of your PhD, you can apply if you provide documented proof that your thesis is submitted or your defense date is confirmed. Documentation of the completed degree is mandatory before taking up the position.
- Skills: Experience with cell culture work.
- Language: Good oral and written presentation skills in English (equivalent to level B2).
Preferred Criteria
- Experience handling stem cells.
- Experience working with organoids.
- Proficiency with confocal imaging.
- Experience with standard molecular biology methods (extraction of DNA, RNA, and proteins, immunoblotting, ELISA).
- An academically relevant background within neuroscience.
Job Description (Duties and Responsibilities)
As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will be expected to:
- Carry out high-quality research within a multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to academic publications and popular science dissemination.
- Apply for research funding, write grant applications, and report progress to funding sources.
- Participate in international activities such as conferences or research stays at foreign educational institutions.
- Mentor students, assisting them with their research projects, and advising on methodology and academic writing.
