Eligibility/Qualification:
- Education: PhD in engineering or data science fields (completed within the last three years or expected within six months of appointment).
- Experience:
- Mechanical analysis and design of composite structures, particularly using finite element modeling and simulation.
- Advanced composite manufacturing, with hands-on experience in automated fibre placement (AFP).
- Proficiency in data science techniques, including Python programming.
- Prior publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
- Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Experience in project management and collaboration in multi-disciplinary teams.
Job Description:
As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will research the evolving data-driven digital twins for automated composite processing. Your tasks will include:
- Developing methodologies to characterize microstructural morphology of composite parts during the cure cycle.
- Analyzing in-process imaging data for insights into laminate microstructure.
- Establishing a predictive capability linking design to performance of composite structures.
- Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams on projects critical to the aerospace sector.
