Postdoctoral Fellow in Physics – Stockholm University, Sweden

Study in Sweden

Postdoctoral Fellow in Physics: Join the Department of Physics at Stockholm University as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Physics, contributing to groundbreaking research in the modeling of water. The position is part of the XSoLaS group, focusing on studies of water, solutions, and heterogeneous catalysis. This opportunity is funded by an ERC Advanced Grant (Gases in Water – GAS-WAT), exploring the two-state picture of liquid water and its consequences on chemistry and aquatic life.

Postdoctoral Fellow in Physics – Modeling of Water

Designation: Postdoctoral Fellow in Physics

Research Area: Modeling of Water

Location: Department of Physics, Stockholm University, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Hold a degree equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree.
  • Completed the degree no more than three years before the closing date.
  • Research background in molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo simulations, quantum chemical x-ray spectroscopy calculations, and related fields.

Job Description:

  • Contribute to the group’s research on modeling water, utilizing molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo simulations, and advanced quantum chemical x-ray spectroscopy calculations.
  • Investigate local structures associated with structural fluctuations in ambient water, focusing on solvation of gases, particularly O2, and the structural changes around fish gills to aid oxygen extraction.
  • Combine simulations with analysis of computed XAS and XES spectra, explore proton spin-coupling and wave function descriptions, and participate in x-ray free-electron laser experiments.
