The UNSW School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering (SPREE), University of New South Wales, Australia offers postdoctoral fellow position for candidates having PhD in material, physics, chemistry.

About- The University of New South Wales School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering (SPREE) is one of the nine schools within the Faculty of Engineering at University of New South Wales. SPREE grew out of the Australian Research Council Photovoltaics Centre of Excellence in response to the growing industry of renewable energy. Building on world-leading research, including holding the record for the most efficient silicon solar cell for over two decades, the school attracts leading international researchers in the area of photovoltaic.

Our academic staff has been consistently ranked amongst the leaders worldwide in the photovoltaic field through international peer review. This team has been responsible for developing the most successfully commercialised new photovoltaic technology in the last 30 years.

Location- The UNSW School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering (SPREE), University of New South Wales, Australia

Research/Job Area- Material, physics, chemistry, with research experience

Eligibility/Qualification- To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A PhD in material, physics, chemistry, with research experience in chalcogenide (such as CIGS, CZTS, CdTe) solar cells
  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact with a diverse range of students and staff
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships
  • Ability and capacity to implement required UNSW health and safety and knowledge of equal opportunity principles

 Job/Position Description- The purpose of this role is to conduct high impact research in the ‘Efficient Adamantine Thin-Film on Silicon Tandem Cells’ project, focusing on materials synthesis, first principle calculation. The academic is expected to carry out activities that will develop their scholarly research and professional activities both nationally and internationally.

About the role

  • Level A – $91,743– A$98,127 per annum (plus 9.5% superannuation)
  • Fixed Term (Up to 12 months) – with view to extend for additional 24 months
  • Full-time position (35 hours per week)

The postdoctoral Fellow will develop solar cells made from abundant and environmentally-friendly materials for single junction thin film solar cells and Si-based tandem solar cells.
