The selected researcher will collaborate with researchers at the University of Idaho as well as project collaborators at the Uniformed Services University.

Eligibility / Qualification

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • A recent PhD in:
    • Molecular Biology
    • Immunology
    • Microbiology
    • or a closely related field.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in working with infectious pathogens in animal models.
  • Candidates should be capable of working collaboratively with principal investigators, graduate students, undergraduate students, and external project collaborators.

Job Description / Duties

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Nora Cespedes and Dr. Tanya Miura and will be responsible for:

  • Conducting research associated with the funded malaria and dengue projects.
  • Investigating the role of mast cells in malaria parasite growth, maturation, and transmission.
  • Studying immune responses following malaria and subsequent dengue virus infection.
  • Assisting with laboratory management and organization.
  • Preparing scientific manuscripts for publication.
  • Developing scientific presentations.
  • Contributing to grant proposal preparation.
  • Collaborating with the two principal investigators, U of I students, and project collaborators at Uniformed Services University.
