An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Postdoctoral Immunologist to join the pre-erythrocytic (PE) malaria group at the Jenner Institute, University of Oxford. The successful candidate will work under Dr. Lisa Stockdale, Head of Pre-erythrocytic Malaria Vaccine Immunology, primarily on the IMMUSERV project, which assesses the immunogenicity of the R21/Matrix-M malaria vaccine. The role involves developing and undertaking assays, data analysis, contributing to publications, and supervising junior staff.

Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in a subject relevant to immunology or vaccine development.
- Practical immunology experience assessing humoral and cellular immune responses in infectious disease and/or vaccines, ideally in clinical trials.
- Experience in a programming language such as R or STATA.
- A keen interest in vaccine development, human immunology, and malaria.
Job Description
The Postdoctoral Immunologist will be responsible for:
- Undertaking and developing assays (MSD, ELISpot, ELISA, and other functional assays) for the evaluation of malaria vaccines in human clinical trials.
- Analysing and presenting data.
- Contributing to manuscripts for publication.
- Training and supervising junior staff.
- Contributing to scientific papers for publication.
- Directly contributing to scientific discussions with other members of the Jenner Institute in wider projects.
This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract for 18 months, funded by the Medical Research Council.
Salary
Research Grade 7: £39,424 – £47,779 p.a. with a discretionary range to £53,483 p.a. (pro rata). This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,730 per year (pro rata).
