Eligibility/QualificationPhD in engineering, biology, biomedical sciences, or related fields. Strong background in ECM/tissue biology, cell biology, molecular biology, insect model systems, nanoindentation, and/or image analysis is advantageous.

Job Description

The selected fellow will engage in a collaborative project that merges evolutionary and developmental biology with bioengineering, aiming to dissect the biophysical processes of heart formation across diverse insect species. Key responsibilities include:

  • Utilizing comparative methods in evolutionary biology and biomechanical measures of cell and tissue properties.
  • Measuring and perturbing material properties in various environments, including in vivo and ex ovo.
  • Collaborating closely with teams from leading global institutions to advance the understanding of early heart formation.
  • Utilizing state-of-the-art facilities for high-resolution imaging and mechanical characterization provided by MBI and NUS.
