Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Essential Criteria:
  • PhD in Organic Chemistry or a related field (or pending results).
  • Extensive experience in multi-step synthetic chemistry.
  • Experience in Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis.
  • Proficiency in separation and characterization of small to medium-sized molecules.
  • Familiarity with key spectroscopic techniques.
  • Strong publication record in reputable journals.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear scientific writing and presentation.
  • Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience in asymmetric synthesis and determining enantiomeric excess.
  • Application of density functional theory (DFT).
  • Evidence of independent funding.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will join the Cobb group, working on designing modular asymmetric catalysts inspired by natural helices. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and executing the synthesis of novel foldamer catalysts.
  • Contributing to stereoselective processes involving organocatalytic and photocatalytic reactions.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary research team and utilizing state-of-the-art instrumentation.
  • Supporting high-quality research projects and contributing to publications.
