Postdoctoral Position at University of Utah: The Puri Lab at the University of Utah is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate to join a funded project focused on the discovery and characterization of natural products from underexplored bacteria. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment and contribute to cutting-edge research in natural product biosynthesis and microbial interactions.
Designation: Postdoctoral Research Associate
Research Area: Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology
Location: Puri Lab, Crocker Science Center, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Experience with mass spectrometry and/or natural product structural elucidation.
Job Description: The successful candidate will work on active projects that include isolating new natural products from bacteria that grow on one-carbon compounds such as methane and methanol, and investigating the chemistry and biology of unexplored quorum sensing signaling systems in environmental bacterial communities involved in carbon cycling. The Puri Lab employs multidisciplinary approaches, integrating microbiology, genetics, chemistry, and biochemistry to understand how bacteria utilize natural products to interact with their environment.
About the Puri Lab: Located in the state-of-the-art Crocker Science Center at the University of Utah, the Puri Lab is affiliated with the Department of Chemistry and the Henry Eyring Center for Cell and Genome Science. The lab is dedicated to studying the structure, function, and biosynthesis of natural products made by underexplored bacteria, with a particular interest in bacterial interactions and environmental responses.
