Postdoc Position at University of Zurich Switzerland

Summary

The Department of Mathematics at ETH Zurich invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position in the research group of Professor Mikaela Iacobelli. This role focuses on the mathematics of plasmas, specifically kinetic theory and PDEs, with a possibility of renewal. The position includes research collaboration, teaching responsibilities, and offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative international environment in Zurich, Switzerland.

Designation

Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area

  • Analysis
  • Partial Differential Equations (PDEs)
  • Mathematics of Plasmas
  • Kinetic Theory

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Collaborate on research projects related to the mathematics of plasmas, with a focus on kinetic theory and PDEs.
  • Specifically investigate topics such as stability, long-time behaviour, and mathematical properties of magnetised plasma models (e.g., magnetized Vlasov–Poisson and Vlasov–Maxwell systems).
  • Undertake teaching responsibilities, including organizing a course and assisting with exam grading.

The anticipated start date is 1st September 2027, with some flexibility upon agreement.
