Eligibility/Qualification
- A doctorate from Sweden or an equivalent foreign degree, completed within the last three years.
- A maximum of one year of prior postdoctoral employment in the same or related fields at the University of Gothenburg.
- Documented experience in atmospheric chemistry research, specifically in mass spectrometry with chemical ionization.
Meritorious Qualifications:
- Experience with the FIGAERO inlet for aerosol characterization.
- Practical knowledge of drones for environmental monitoring.
- Familiarity with fire emissions and their chemical processes.
- Experience managing and evaluating large data sets.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication in Swedish.
Job Description
This research project aims to revolutionize the real-time assessment of fire smoke impacts by developing a drone-based monitoring platform. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with the Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL) and Greater Gothenburg Fire and Rescue Service.
- Conducting field measurements and live fire tests.
- Analyzing chemical composition using advanced mass spectrometry techniques.
- Developing automated monitoring and sampling procedures.
- Creating a knowledge base and evaluation system for fire events to enhance communication among stakeholders.
