Postdoctoral Position in Entropy Alloys: Chalmers University is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to investigate pressure-induced phase transformations in high entropy alloys, focusing on advanced experimentation using synchrotron diffraction and spectroscopy techniques. This is a full-time, temporary position for two years within the Division of Microstructure Physics at the Department of Physics.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science (awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline, with exceptions for parental leave, sick leave, or military service).
  • Experience with high-pressure diffraction or spectroscopy experiments using diamond anvil cells.
  • Knowledge of techniques such as X-ray magnetic circular dichroism or X-ray emission spectroscopy is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with magnetism, magnetic measurements, and magnetic properties is a merit.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Teaching experience is desirable but not mandatory.

Job Description:
The primary responsibility is conducting independent research on pressure-induced phase transformations in the CoCrFeMnNi alloy system, employing high-pressure synchrotron techniques. The role includes:

  • Collaborating with a research group within the Division of Microstructure Physics.
  • Supervising PhD, MSc, and BSc students to a limited extent.
  • Using advanced materials characterization tools like electron microscopy, X-ray and neutron scattering, and atom probe tomography.
  • Contributing to the development of new structural and functional materials for a sustainable society.
