About- The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) is a society registered under Act XXI of 1860 and the corresponding State Act viz. the West Bengal State Registration Act 1961, with its headquarters at 2A & 2B, Raja S. C. Mallick Road, Calcutta – 700 032, West Bengal, India. It has a Governing Council with several members elected or nominated and the Registrar as its Non-Member Secretary. The Council has the functions, duties and power as envisaged in the Memorandum and Bye-Laws and per the relevant Act’s provisions.

Eligibility/Qualification–
Area: Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Essential Qualifications:
- Candidates should have M.Sc. degree in Physics/Material Science/Electronics with 55% marks both in B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. examination along with good overall academic record.
- The candidate must have Ph.D. degree in physical sciences with research experience supported by good publications in peer-reviewed journals. Candidates who have submitted PhD thesis are also eligible to apply but their final selection and emoluments will be guided by the rules of IACS.
Desirable qualifications: Specialization in condensed matter physics. Preference will be given to the candidates having substantial research exposure in Raman spectroscopy, ultrafast spectroscopy and nonlinear optics.
Age limit: 35 Y. Relaxation is applicable as per Govt. rule.
Job/Position Description-
RA-1 position in the School of Physical Sciences, IACS
Applications are invited for recruitment of one Research Associate for the project (ANRF, DST, GoI) entitled “Probing Magnetoelectric Coupling at Two-Dimensional Heterointerfaces Using Acoustic Vibrometry” under the supervision of Dr. Subhadeep Datta, Associate Professor, SPS, IACS at sspsdd@iacs.res.in in the School of Physical Sciences within 20 days from the date of publishing the advertisement.
Name of the post: RA-1, Number of posts: One (01) Research
Fellowship: As per ANRF, DST rules.
Tenure of Fellowship: Six months from the date of joining, which may be extended based on performance to be reviewed by a committee. The position is purely temporary, and the candidate will have no right to claim (explicit or implicit) any post in the institute.
Selection Procedure: Applicants will be shortlisted based on merit. In this regard, percentage of marks obtained in Bachelors’ & Masters (including particulars like specialization etc.), year of passing, present status/enrolment, publication details during thesis work, technical expertise and other distinctions should be mentioned in the application. Only shortlisted candidates will be communicated via email and called for an interview for the final selection.
