Postdoctoral Position in Germany: The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion (MPI CEC) in Mülheim an der Ruhr is seeking a highly motivated candidate for a PhD student or Postdoc position in the department of “Inorganic Spectroscopy”.

The successful candidate will work on a 3-year-doctoral-program (PhD) or for a period of 12 months (Postdoc) with the possibility of two additional one-year renewal, under the supervision of Prof. Serena DeBeer and in close collaboration with the “Metalloenzyme mechanistic explorations” research team headed by Dr. Kushal Sengupta.

Research Area: Biochemistry and Inorganic Spectroscopy

Location: Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • For the PhD position, a Master’s degree certificate in chemistry or biochemistry is required.
  • For the postdoctoral position, a PhD degree in chemistry or biochemistry is required.
  • Strong background in biochemistry with an interest to learn spectroscopy or should have a strong background in inorganic spectroscopy and openness to learn biochemistry.

Job Description:

  • The appointed researcher will be involved in the protein purification, biochemical and bio-physical experiments and spectroscopic characterization (including EPR and X-ray based techniques).
  • The researcher will also take part in analyzing the data and preparing scientific publications.
