Postdoctoral Position in Matrix Biomechanics, Institut de Biologie Paris Seine, France

PhD Open Position in Organic Chemistry, CNRS, France

Postdoctoral Position in Matrix Biomechanics: The Institut de Biologie Paris Seine (IBPS) and the Laboratoire Jean Perrin are jointly offering a postdoctoral position in the field of matrix biomechanics and tissue morphogenesis. The research will focus on understanding how mechanical forces are propagated between adjacent tissues during morphogenetic movements, with a particular emphasis on the role of the extracellular matrix (ECM). This collaborative interdisciplinary project involves researchers from both biology and physics, providing an exciting environment for the study of tissue mechanics. The successful candidate will work on investigating the mechanical interplay between olfactory placode and eye tissues in zebrafish, employing advanced imaging techniques and developing tools to manipulate ECM mechanical properties.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Matrix Biomechanics and Tissue Morphogenesis

Location: Institut de Biologie Paris Seine (IBPS), France

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in cell/developmental biology or biophysics.
  • Strong interest in the biomechanics of tissue morphogenesis and a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research.

Additional Beneficial Skills:

  • Experience with the zebrafish model.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology, cloning, and transgenesis techniques.
  • Expertise in live imaging, confocal microscopy, and image analysis.

Job Description:

Postdoctoral Position in Matrix Biomechanics and Tissue Morphogenesis
The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for:

  • Investigating the transmission of mechanical forces between olfactory placode and eye tissues in zebrafish embryos.
  • Utilizing advanced imaging methods to study ECM dynamics.
  • Developing new tools and techniques to manipulate ECM mechanical properties.
  • Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of biologists and physicists.
  • Conducting research within the field of tissue biomechanics and morphogenesis.

How to Apply: Interested candidates are invited to apply by sending the following documents to marie.breau@sorbonne-universite.fr:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV) including a list of publications/preprints.
  2. Cover letter explaining why you are interested in this position.
  3. Contact details of two or more referees who can provide recommendations.

Last Date for Apply: Application deadline is open until the position is filled. However, candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The position is available from March 2024 onwards and will be funded by the ANR MECAMATRIX grant for 24 months.
