Eligibility/Qualification–

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

Doctoral Degree in Science

OR

Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology.

Background: Physics – focus on experimental condensed matter, optics, quantum optics,

Nanoscience and Nano Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer science, Materials Science with preferable hands on experimental skills in optics and strong theoretical background.

Job Profile:

1. Quantum Diamond Microscope Development and Sensitivity Enhancement (Experimental & Theoretical)

  • Conduct research to identify and understand bottlenecks limiting the sensitivity of quantum diamond microscopes.
  • Develop and implement experimental techniques to enhance per-pixel sensitivity.
  • Theoretically model and simulate quantum sensing mechanisms to optimize imaging performance.
  • Design and execute experiments involving nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond for high-sensitivity magnetometry for technology translation.
  • Analyse experimental data to refine theoretical models and improve measurement protocols.
  • Collaborate with team to integrate findings into existing quantum sensing setups.

2. Adaptive Optics for Super-Resolution NV Imaging (Primarily Theoretical)

  • Develop theoretical models for implementing adaptive optics in quantum diamond microscopy.
  • Investigate strategies for achieving super-resolution imaging in widefield NV-based magnetometry.
  • Collaborate with Prof. Saikat Guha at UMD to refine theoretical frameworks and determine experimental requirements.
  • Work on computational techniques, including wavefront correction and optical phase manipulation, to improve imaging resolution.
  • Propose and design experimental protocols based on theoretical insights for future implementation.
  • Coordinate with experimental team to come up with implementation plan.
