Postdoctoral Position in Plant Biology: The De Smet Lab at the VIB-UGent Center for Plant Systems Biology (PSB) in Ghent, Belgium, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to investigate the signaling mechanisms underlying plant growth regulation in response to changing climates, particularly high temperatures. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team and contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at unraveling the molecular basis of thermomorphogenesis in Arabidopsis, wheat, and soybean plants.
Postdoctoral Position in Plant Systems Biology
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Molecular Immunology and Innate Immunity
Location: VIB-UGent Center for Plant Systems Biology, Ghent, Belgium
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in plant molecular biology with up to 4 years of postdoc experience
- Expertise in molecular biology, plant biotechnology, and computational biology
- Experience in guiding master/PhD students and/or technicians
- Proficiency in English for both oral and written communication
- Eligibility for Marie Curie and/or EMBO postdoctoral fellowship applications
Job Description:
- Investigate the signaling mechanisms involved in regulating plant growth under high temperature conditions using Arabidopsis, wheat, and soybean data
- Employ a multidisciplinary approach combining biochemistry (phosphoproteomics), cell biology (confocal microscopy), computational biology (data analysis and modeling), and plant genetics (functional characterization)
- Contribute to our understanding of how plants perceive environmental signals, such as temperature, and translate them into developmental and physiological responses
- Collaborate with team members to design experiments, analyze data, and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals
How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit their application through the VIB application tool. The application should include:
- Detailed CV
- One-page summary of past research activities (e.g., in PhD/PostDoc projects)
- One-page letter of intent describing motivation for the position, alignment of research interests with those of the lab, and future goals
- Names and contact details of 3 referees
Last Date for Apply: The call will remain open until a suitable candidate is identified.
