Postdoctoral Position: Laser-ARPES System: The Schröter Lab at the Max Planck Institute for Microstructure Physics in Halle, Germany, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Position in the development of a laser-based high-harmonic generation (HHG) light source for use in static and time-resolved angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES). The successful candidate will contribute to the ERC Starting Grant project ChiralTopMat, focusing on the investigation of novel structurally chiral materials, with opportunities for collaboration with the “Center for Chiral Electronics” Excellence Initiative at the University Halle-Wittenberg.
Postdoctoral Position: Development of High-Resolution HHG Laser-ARPES System with Spin-Detection
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Development of high-harmonic generation light source, Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES), Chiral Topological Semimetals
Location: Max Planck Institute for Microstructure Physics, Halle, Germany
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. degree in Physics, Materials Science, or related discipline
- Proven track-record in the development of laser-based high-harmonic generation light source
- Experience in experimental condensed matter physics, particularly in ARPES techniques
- Proficiency in programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data analysis and experimental control
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
Job Description:
The successful candidate will lead the development of an innovative high-harmonic generation light source tailored for unrivaled energy, spatial, and spin resolution. This role involves driving forward the design and implementation of a state-of-the-art laser ARPES beamline, collaborating closely with an ERC team, and contributing expertise to optimize experimental setups and protocols for maximum precision and reliability. Furthermore, the dissemination of findings through publications in scientific journals and presentations at international conferences is a key responsibility.
