Summary:
The Aird Lab at the Wistar Institute invites applications for multiple Postdoctoral Fellow positions focused on cellular metabolism. This is an excellent opportunity for recent PhD graduates or MD/PhD candidates to engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative research that contributes to advancing scientific knowledge related to cancer.
Postdoctoral Fellow Positions in Cellular Metabolism, Wistar Institute, Philadelphia, PA, USA
Designation:
Postdoctoral Fellow
| Research Area | Location |
|---|---|
| Bidirectional control of metabolism and the cell cycle; influence of metabolism on therapeutic resistance; mechanisms of senescence and the SASP. | Wistar Institute, Philadelphia, PA |
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Recent PhD or MD/PhD graduates or individuals nearing completion of their doctoral degree.
- Essential research skills include standard molecular and cellular biology techniques.
- Prior experience in cancer research is not required but is a plus.
Job Description:
The Aird Lab is actively recruiting postdoctoral fellows to work on various projects related to the broad theme of cellular metabolism. Research will be tailored to individual scientific interests and career goals, and may include the following areas:
- Bidirectional control of metabolism and the cell cycle: Focus on non-canonical roles of tumor suppressors and oncogenes in metabolism and associated cell fate decisions.
- Influence of intra- and extracellular metabolism on therapeutic resistance: Special emphasis on ovarian cancer and melanoma.
- Mechanisms of senescence: Investigating the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) and its effects on the microenvironment and therapeutic response.
Collaboration opportunities are available with mass spec expert Dr. Nate Snyder (Temple University), ovarian cancer expert Dr. Ben Bitler (University of Colorado), and cancer and aging expert Dr. Ana Gomes (Moffitt Cancer Center).
The Aird Lab emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion and encourages applications from women and minorities.
How to Apply:
Qualified candidates should submit the following documents:
- A one-page cover letter detailing their scientific interest in the lab and career goals
- A curriculum vitae (CV) that includes technical skills
