Postdoctoral Research Assistant: Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the School of Biological & Behavioural Sciences. This position, funded by the ERC Starting Grant, involves working on a project titled “Deciphering the Evolution and Roles of cytosine DNA methylation across eukaryotes” under the supervision of Dr. Alex de Mendoza.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD (or close to completion) in molecular and/or evolutionary biology.
- Significant experience in epigenetics, molecular biology techniques, and/or bioinformatics.
- Track record of high-quality published research preferred.
- Previous experience in DNA methylation and Nanopore sequencing desirable.
- Knowledge of comparative genomics, transposable element biology, or virology helpful.
- Self-motivated with excellent teamwork, research management, and presentation skills.
Job Description: The successful candidate will work on the ERC-funded project focused on deciphering the role of DNA methylation across eukaryotic species. Responsibilities include conducting functional genomics experiments, employing in vitro methods to study DNA methylation “readers,” and investigating comparative epigenomics of early animal evolution. The role offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration within a diverse and inclusive team, with mentoring and training provided as needed.
