Eligibility/Qualification
- Hold or be near completion of a PhD in a relevant area of biological science.
- Strong track record in research areas such as epigenetic regulation, chromatin biology, cell biology, development, or the genetic basis of human disease.
- Excellent practical experimental skills with the ability to independently drive a project.
- Strong communication skills for both written and oral presentation.
- Ability to work as part of a team and supervise junior colleagues.
- Lead manuscript preparation and communicate project outcomes across various disciplines.
- Enthusiasm for the lab’s research focus.
- Creative problem-solving abilities.
Desirable Criteria:
- Expertise in in vitro culture of mammalian cells and/or organoids, molecular cloning, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, cell transfection, or genome-wide epigenetic analysis assays (ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN/CUT&Tag-seq).
- Computational genomic analysis skills or experience with GWAS.
- Experience in giving poster or oral presentations.
- Experience in supervising undergraduate or graduate researchers.
- Experience in writing scientific papers or conducting peer reviews.
Job Description
The project will involve investigating the role of transposable elements in pregnancy complications through:
- Genome-wide genetic and epigenetic analyses of patient samples.
- Functional assays utilizing human tissue culture of trophoblast cells and organoids.
- Molecular cloning to generate CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing constructs.
This post is a full-time, wetlab position based at Guy’s Hospital and offered on a fixed-term contract for 2 years (35 hours per week).
