Postdoctoral Research Associate – Biology: The Mallott and Gildner labs at Washington University in St. Louis are jointly seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate for an interdisciplinary project examining the impacts of flooding on environmental pathogen levels and intestinal infection risks in low-resource communities across the U.S.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Required:
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent terminal degree in Biological Anthropology, Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, Environmental Microbiology, or a related field.
- Experience in field data collection (interviews, environmental sampling).
- Familiarity with common wet lab techniques.
- Strong interpersonal skills for participant engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Preferred:
- Molecular biology experience (DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing library preparation).
- Experience in microbiome data analysis and high-performance computing environments.
- Familiarity with ELISA techniques and community-based research.
- Proficiency in data management systems (e.g., REDCap).
Job Description:
The successful candidate will engage in a multidisciplinary project focusing on health risks associated with flooding. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting longitudinal data collection, laboratory analyses, and community outreach.
- Performing participant recruitment and data collection (interviews, anthropometric measurements, stool samples).
- Conducting soil microbiome sampling and laboratory techniques for microbiome sequencing.
- Analyzing data using bioinformatics pipelines.
- Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and contributing to a collaborative research environment.
- Disseminating findings through publications and presentations.
